I Will Try Both , And Tell you The Results ,, Thaaaaaaaaanks All
Emiron is right, 4-5-1 v style is a great counter against narrow diamond, especially if his flank defenders are weak. Red arrows on DR/L and AMR/L, passing down both flanks. Use defensive mentality with force counter attacks

Read into it what you will because of the potential for a troll result.
Someone running a 4-4-2 classic (overall average quality 37.5) beat a 4-1-2-1-2 ND (overall avg. quality 51.2) in the champions league today by the score of 2:1 with only the stronger team's manager being active.
I'm not saying the 4-4-2 classic counters the 4-1-2-1-2 but its a trend I'm going to keep an eye on for sure, with several of the stronger teams in the Champions League running the Narrow Diamond or something similar.
I've played ND for a while now, that is my bread and butter, equal 4-4-2 vs.4-1-2-1-2ND is really a toss up, from experience ND has the edge. obviously good orders matters. Oh, by the way once I see the BIG V I will change last minute or last 4 minute to be exact. LOL.

I've found the 4-1-2-1-2 ND hit or miss against the 4-4-2 classic as well when I've ran the ND. As you stated, good orders matter and I agree. I find the ND very effective when the 4-4-2 classic is clearly attacking through the middle. If both MC's have blue arrow's its a different story. If I have very good DL/DR, sometimes the "D" can still hold up and I can escape.
What do you mean by the big V? Is it 3-5-2 V?

I have tried 3-5-2v and 3-5-2 flat. Both are working.
