A team in the same group as me in the champions league this season used this formation. He didn't use it against me today though. He drew 0:0 against a 3:4:3 and beat the defensive bunker (5-1-2-1-1 ND) 2:1. Quality differences between the 3 teams are all in the same range.

If it was me i'd attack him right up the middle with the 4-1-2-1-2 ND since with only 1 MC he won't be able to adequately defend the middle. You'd still have 4 DC's to handle his 2 ST, a DMC for the AMC and DL/DR for AML/AMR. Normal, through the middle, own half, mixed, hard tackling, zonal, counter, no offside. Red arrows on DL/DR, DMC, MC, MC. AMC is optional.

They're are probably many different ways to adequately attack this though since he has only one non-attacking midfielder and none in the defensive midfield.

3-2-2-2-1 butterfly could work, although the other formations could work as well. The key is orders. What you should do is use full pitch pressing and no force counter attacks.

Hello! Today I played home against 4-1-2mc-3. I used 3n-1-4-2. Hardly, but I won 2:1. Unfortunately, ball possession was 36/64 for him. What can you recommend for the away match? 4-1-4-1,or 5-1-1-2-1? Defensive or normal? By flanks, or center? Counter? Thanks!

use full pitch pressing and attacking mentality, aim on getting 2 or more goals.
