Unhappy CUP Match against weird erm... 4-4-2??

I just did a Cup match against a player 7 quality lower than me, and we drew 0-0.

His Formation was a weird 4-4-2:

    -----ST--ST-----
    ----------------
    --MC-MC-MC-MR-
    ----------------
    DL-DC-DC-DC---

I'm really bad with weird formations like these, seems to me perhaps his formation looks more like a 5-3N-2?
I went attacking with 4-1-2-1-2 ND (as I would against a 4-4-2 classic), and had a draw.

Any advice from the managers on a better formation/tactic? I have all players in every position.
    Perhaps a 3N-1-4-2? 3N-4-1-2? or 4-4-2 Classic?

    Much appreciated. Thanks!

Hmm well it could be that you just had bad luck...
Either I would go with the same formation and tactics you played with in the first match
or I would try to beat him with a 3N-1-4-2. :-)

Definitely wom't suggest playing ND vs him. ND is supposed to attacki through the middle and he has 3 DCs and 3 MCs there... Go with 3N-4-1-2 (or 3N-1-4-2) and focus passing down both flanks or even better down left flank because he has no defender there!
