drew 1-1... using 3-5-2 flat. Saw today he lost 2-1, his opponent used 4-5-1 flat.

Lost 1-0. Perhaps this is the ultimate tactic this season. Haven't lost 2 matches in a row in cup to a player one star lower in all 13 seasons!
Started with 3N-4-1-2. He scored a goal while I was on hard attacking (home). Changed to 3N-2N-3W-2 during half time and then to 3N-4-3, but couldn't conceive any goals. I had 18 shots, 7 on target, 10 Corners, 4 Free Kicks, nothing worked against his 4 star defense (without SA).

At least now we know what formation/tactics not to use.

Now that I'm out of CUP, and have befriended the "opponent". Will spent my "CUP" day doing some friendlies and see if I can come up with a counter, provided he doesn't change his formation.

Try going with 4-1-4-1.. I should have from the beginning as last season the same opponent was in my league and i played 4-1-4-1, if i can recall I got 2 good wins out of it.

Finally a win, I had a friendly match, and went with 3n-5-2 Flat (Defending), Mixed passing, Hard, Own-Half, Offside On.
The score at half time was 3-0! Unfortunately unable to score more in the second half, he manage to get one in from a free kick.
Match ended with a 3-1 win. This is however, a friendly match with the other manager absent from the match.

Perhaps I will try 4-1-4-1 in 2 days time.

Another update. Just watched his cup match. 3n-3w-2-2 vs. 3w-4-3.
His opponent playing at home but not watching won 2-0 with 3w-4-3, with a red card at 60+ minutes.
So here u go, 2 formations against 3n-3w-2-2:
    1. 3N-5-2 (3-1)
    2. 3W-4-3 (2-0)

Played v this twice in CL.

I'm now 4Q ave better so I'd assume I was 3 better earlier in season.

    1st was 4-5-1V def c-a, 2nd 4-4-2 attacking

    Ofc, could be just flukes
