Counter stronger 4-4-2

How do I counter a stronger 4-4-2? I tried 4-5-1 v style, which always failed for me. Anyone knows the best formation + orders to beat 4-4-2? Thank you in advance!

4-5-1 V, attack, full pitch press, both flanks, mixed passing, offside trap, zonal defense... If you played defensively, using counter attack, it didn't work for me either... but... it wont work if your players are in bad form and his players play good... no formation is ultimate winner over 4-4-2... try and experiment for yourself tho, it's better way to learn than to read silly forum thread...

Either 4-1-4-1 or 4-5-1 flat.

Thank you, I'll try 4-1-4-1 in the first half to see if it works and change to 4-5-1 v style if it doesn't. What orders should I try with the 4-1-4-1, I never really used this formation.

You can try a normal or defensive mentality with counter attacks. Own half, zonal. Long pass. Mixed focus.
