I'm borrowing the term "flooding the zone" from American football, where it means attacking a defense by placing one more offensive player in the zone than there are defenders allowing for the offensive player to be free. I have been taking the same approach in Top11. So I try to free up offensive players by forcing a given defensive player to choose between guarding either of my two players.
For example, in attacking a 4-4-2, I place the AMC in the middle of the field with two strikers and two MCs ahead and behind the AMC. Or I attack a formation using 3narrow MCs with a ML-MC-gap-MC-MR to give the wingers a free run (sometimes) at the goal.
But the results are mixed. What are your thoughts about this approach? How do you think about attacking a given defense?
