then sorry to say but maybe you have a problem with your players. You see, those systems are classics but you need the right players.
Key players for 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 are (for me !) one good DC, 2 good AMR/MR, AML/ML and one good ST. Those players must have rates near to 8 (avg) and (the attackers) must scoring.

It doesn't matter much the quality of the players. I could loose (and I did in a game of my league) from a 5* team like yours.
Also those special abilities - I don't know if and how much affect the performance of a player.
Well, as I can see, your AML-ML is out of form. For a flank player rates must be like your AMR-MR.
Also I can see that you have only one ST that scores.
A classic problem, a ST (Sutrisno) who prefer to give assists than scoring
Ok, you need one AML-ML and another ST.
I would try to find from the market some over 27 y.o. cheap, 5*, with good stats (and goals).

If you have chances for a CH.L. position it's worthy.

I was 8th 5 point 4th. I just re-read and say if he plays with 3dc passes on the flanks. but if he plays for example 442 as you leave then mixed the passes?

yes, 4-4-2 it's a balance formation.
I usually go with a 4-1-4-1 or 4-5-1 V with the 1st purpose not to loose or if want much the victory, trying a 4-1-2-1-2 (narrow diamond) but with a good AMC, two good STs and two good DL -DR with blue arrows, to hold his flanks. Ofc through the middle.
But nothing guarantee - depending from the day, the players or some random process of that match.
