I'd avoid the narrow diamond here. He can change into 3n-1-4-2/3n-5-2 V-style which are the counter-formations to the narrow diamond, without making a substitution. 3n-1-4-1-1 probably isn't a bad play against the ND either, but not as effective as those 2 ST sets.
I'd use 3w-5-2 V-style or 3w-1-4-2 against this formation. However, if he changes to a 3-5-2 V-style/3n-1-4-2, pull the DMC back into a DC role and use 4-4-2 classic or 4-2-2-2 hexagon.
Maybe an attacking mentality too. I don't know what the form of his players are, but it looks like the weak links are his two 4* DC's? Just, be careful with those duel and triple roles players (DML/ML/AML, DMR/MR/AMR, AMC/ST); if he's active watching the match, he can change formations without making a sub.
