    Cannot beat 4-2-2-2

I am not losing almost any games except to a friend who is playing 4-2-2-2 with default settings.
We are same level and have approx same quality. Any suggestions on how to beat him?

    Doesn't 4-5-1 V-formation beat this one?

    Is it formation really important?
I play 4-3-3 and it's very good for me...

Which 4-2-2-2 there are more than one combination of the four central players which are wide and central.

    If you mean like this:

    DL--DC-DC--DR
    ----MC-MC----
    AML--------AMR
    ------ST--ST----

    Then:

    -----------ST----------
    AML-------------AMR
    --------MC-MC-----
    DML------------DMR
    -----DC-DC-DC-----

All flat no arrows, or as above the V formation, both work well but I have more success with the butterfly, it's undefeated this season against five different formations. When someone counters it I'll change to .........

Then again you could read this:

The 4-2-2-2 is as you charted above. I tried the butterfly and drew 1:1.
I also read the post you mentioned a while ago...

Tried 4-5-1V. Lost after penalties [1:1] if I'm not mistaken.

I also tried this one already, lost an embarrassing 2:0. The bunker didn't work well for me.

I guess I should try the butterfly again. Think it got the best result from all I tried.

Btw, 4-4-2 supposed to be good against 4-2-2-2 but I didn't get a chance to try it. Got my second striker injured on the 9th minute (had 6 injured players), when 2 out of 3 strikers injured and 2 out of 4 mc injured. All i got left was dc to sub. Lost while playing 5-4-1 3:0.

I will keep you updated on my quest to pwn 4-2-2-2
Thank you all for the help!

If the Butterfly didn't quite work and as you are prepared to try to conquer this formation, give this a try. inverted butterfly or 3-6-1.

    -------DC----DC----DC
    ---------DMC--DMC
    MR/AMR--------------ML/AML
    ---------AMC---AMC
    --------------ST

Attacking, Mixed, Whole pitch, Normal tackle, Mixed, Zonal, O/S on if you DC's are faster than his ST.. In this mode if your Defenders are faster, I play wide three at the back DL--DC--DR with down arrows on DC and both DMC and attack down both flanks.

If he has better quality AMC & ST, Defensive, Mixed, Own half, Normal, Long, Zonal, No O/S Counter on.

If possession is a big problem in both sets of orders switch to Flanks and short passing in attack and mixed when playing defensive with counter.

Today lost against one retard with that tactic even with about 13-15* more from my side, used 4-5-1 V, so I can say - dont use this, this lame tactic somehow beat 4-5-1 V... stupid game.
