Help Countering 4-5-1

I have read on the tactics thread that 3-5-2 or 3-5v-2 counters the 4-5-1 so my question is should I use it with or without the V and should the 3 defenders be w or n? thanks in advance.

Narrow defence. Whether you use a flat or V in midfield depends on the players you have available. Personally I would prefer the V with blue arrows on the DMC.
