It's not so much your formation but your orders that dictate how this will go. Try a formation that matches defensive mentality, middle, short passing with offside trap on.

I would risk defense/counter with long pass as oppo doesn't have DM and I can see a void in the middle.
For attack AML-AMR or AMC looks can do some damage (set red arrows)

For defense, you need 4 def. of course +1DMC with blue arrow
But it's not a shame to use 5D + 1DMC lol

I went short passing the entire game as I didn't want the game to open up and give him extra attacking opportunities that having CA on would give. If I were at home with possession bonus I might consider using long passes as my turnovers would likely be lower frequency.


I had 8% bonus from spectating as his stadium was empty and he didn't attend.
Pass % 84 him 86 me.

I conceded first while pressing low and switched to high with trap soon after.

Variety of options are available

-He uses 1MC so you can play 4-1-2-1-2 ND and control the midfield

-You can attack the flanks if you have strong wingers and play 4-3-2-1

-last formation is to use 5-4-1 it can work well

it all depends on your quality players and what are your strength points

I wouldnt flank attack as you are leaving yourself exposed to counterattacks if you are lacking finish in the offensive side of the pitch. This is a counterattacking formation through and through and you have to maintain possession and defensive shape to prevent offensive breaks leaving your defenders outmanned. I would definitely put down arrows on my DCs against this, even with trap on.

here's the formation i used in a 1-3 league victory 2 days ago along with my opponents. I overloaded the right flank initially but saw better results when i moved the MC over to LCM, the DML moved to ML and pressed high with trap on with an up arrow on my middle DC.
