Well, I am in no means a "pro" if you'd like, but according to recent results of all my 3 accounts I can tell you that the 442 is so far my most favourite this season.
DL(UP)/DC/DC/DR(UP)
ML(UP)/MC/MC/MR(UP)
ST(UP)/ST
Attacking,Mixed Pressing,Short passing,Low Press(Own half),Normal tackling,Zonal marking,NO counter, NO offside
If opponent has AMC/AML/AMR then blue arrow on 1 of the MC.

But that,as in attacking is my style of play and other managers out there might suggest defensive play but it's all depending on your style and approach to winning a game.

not bad formation
better try defense-counter mix or from the flanks if you set red arrows in your ML-MR or DL-DR sometimes
what orders are you using ?
why your players are so tired ?
what are the rates of your players ?

Don't be in a haste to win titles. Wait for 3-4 seasons and figure out what's going on.
