The normal setting is neutral, even though your opponent is stronger he can start with the def setting.
The first question you should ask yourself is whether you want to count on luck (game without you) or whether you want to be available as a manager so you would change tactic during the game.
I would play pass:short (players closer eachother), mix (or wide if you have good wings), counter on, offside off but two deffensive midfilders. Every manager has his own opinion about tactics: P You should know your team the best..
