I'm going to tell you what I do when I face a stronger opponent. I play 3DC-3DML/DMC/DMR-2MC-1AMC-1ST.
Orders: Defensive, middle,long,ON,low,normal,zonal,OFF. Arrows down: 3DC and DMC. Arrows up: AMC
The rest of the team stays unarrowed. This has been working with me, but it doesn't mean it will work with you.
But if you can't play with that formation, try to play with 4-5-1V

cheers for this i have played with dml dmr sometimes against better teams has worked well. i usually play 3 dc 1 dmc 1amc 1 st so could work. i might give that formation a crack just only thing doubting me is will need weaker squad players to fit the formation. or do you play people out of position?Originally Posted by Guilherme1337

Well everytime I play that formation, my DR plays out of position and he still performs well.

cheers my ML is one of my best players- i played him DML.
won 1-0
ur formation
started hard defending then as i was having just over more possession went to defensive then normal
started long balls but was losing ball too much so went short then mixed later. replaced dmr with my regular mr he assisted for the goal.
the other manager didnt watch which deffo helped.
3 points clear at the top now

cheers mate appreciate your help i'll let you know how i go next against stronger opponents. ive not bought any new players this season only bought a couple last season i dont buy tokens so am stockpiling without tanking this season so will deffo be facing stronger teams quite often!Congrats mate

But carefull try not to play hard def cuz as the name says your team will focuse 100% on defense. Imo you should play just defensive cuz ur team will play 75% defence and 25% attack. Cheers

i start hard defending if against way stronger
sometimes ive gone 2-0 up against 20% stronger opponents hard defending lol.
i like it early to try to ensure dont concede early and also see how much they can dominate with us hard def
then after 15/20 mins go to defensive.
would never hard defend for full 90
