Arrows on players

What does the arrows on players in the squad tactics menu indicate?
My 11th season and I still set it anyhow without knowing what it means...

Not the morale arrows. The bigger arrow shadowing the players on the squad field screen.
Goes up, down and disappears when you click on the player.

Nick is right. If you read from point nr. 3 you'll have a kind of explanation about using of those arrows. They're used to "motivate" players
