How do I beat an equal team that uses 4-1-3-2?

Hello, I’m playing a cup match in the second leg for Semi Finals and I’m away this time. In the first leg we tied 1:1 despite me being stronger (I used 4-5-1V) He hasn’t changed his formation and his is a 4-1(DMC)-3(AMR/AMC/AML)-2(ST). Since he has no MC I tried 4-5-1V for midfield dominance with short passes down the flanks. However I can’t seem to get past his defense. Now he is home and has the possession advantage from the fans. How can I ensure my team will make it to the final and what tactics can I use?

Its more like an experiment but i already tried it several times against formations as attacking as his.
Thats why i d recommend you using 5 3 2 use through the middle, long balls, defensive or normal and also if your player morale is high hard tackling/ atleast if he doesnt have a freekick specialist.

I tried that against a 3w 2 2 aml amr 3 st and won 4 0 also won against similar formations like the one from your opponent.

Thank you for your response Jura Lovin. However, I do not have two strikers and I’m low in tokens, also since I do not have good squad depth. I only have two DC that is good and the third one sucks. Putting this makes my team weaker and at a disadvantage, I do not have two DMC either so is there anything I can do with my strong one ST, one AMR, one AML, two AMC, 4 MC, 1 MR, 1 ML, 1 DMC, 1 DR, 2 DC, 1 DL. Those are my players that have five stars and above.

Try 4 1 4 1 flat then. You ll have more players in midfield, your wingers help covering his amr and aml the cdm has hold of his ACM and helps to defend his two strikers, also you outnumber him im midfield. So you could try going normal, mixed passing focus/when you ll see that this isnt working very well try only through mid. Also use short passing first to take the posession away from him. If you ll down after halftime or its only 1/1 or 0 0 try putting it on either normal/defensive long passing and through middle. Also make sure to put counter on when you are playing long balls and counter off if you are playing it short

Won 2-0 with 4-1-4-1 flat and with through the middle Long passing, hard tackling and high pressing. Counter Attack on and offside trap off. Zonal marking
