Whole pitch meaning your pressure style on the opponent, just like Barcelona for example.. if you watch their games specially with weaker teams, they put pressure on the opponent's team starting from the opponents box, this means they try to get the ball starting from the strikers line, they wanna intercept the ball and counter their opponent, as i mentioned Barcelona in their games the opponent's half is where all the playing is, when Barca's half is empty just valdes standing there doing nothing, even their defense is moving forward to support the attack.
BUT this is dangerous if you're playing a better team, because then they will make use of the spaces you have in your half and just score. BUT if against a weaker team you will have possession and will have more chances to score
own half is a bit more defensive as your players will be positioned in their lines waiting for opponent to try attacking them, this will close the spaces in your half and make it more difficult for opponent to attack you, but of course this will give your opponent a lot of possession, you then will need to play on the counterattack to make use of HIS open spaces in his half.
I hope this explained anything to you.
