    Which one is better?

Here is a pic of my starting line up. Which one would you use as tactics?

    A) Defending mentality with flanks and long passes

    B) Defending mentality with mixed attack and long passes

    C) Something else and why?

Iam talking in general, not about some spefisic opponent.

This formation is 3-2-3W-2. It is a very attacking formation, with 5 players as AMs or STs. To utilise, in my opinion, tactics should be at least attacking or hard attacking.

Both A) and B) won’t work well. Opponent playing most formations with AML/ST/AMR will easily breach both the midfield and side-back areas, as there are no proper DL, DR, ML or MR. (That MR is positioned next to MC margin acting as a MC [presumably superior to other MCs available], and would not provide sufficient cover for MR or DR area. DL and DR are both practically DC)

    C) Attacking or Hard Attacking. Mixed or flanks both would do, mainly depending on opponent having DMC or not. Would pull the AMC to the region next to MC area and without arrow if there is DMC, and also use flanks, as that AMC will act as a passer-in-between for attacks when switching flanks and not too affected by the DMC.

Maybe that MR should be better to be without the upper arrow, or else that area could be very vulnerable to counter-attacks.

    Just my own opinion there.

Thank you very much for your opinion. Anyone else has something to say?

I would play my MC deep for extra support for defence as you only play 3 defenders. And MCs usually play better defence than offence in this game anyway. I would place the MR as close to the center as possible without getting a penalty. I would play Hard attacking mix attack short passing (to minimise counters and loss of possession) because you have so many attackers so just kill whoever with your attack. I also like to play offside trap when I play very few defenders. AMC play a little deeper as well to help defend abit and push ball forward

This one for opponent of -20%. Quality advantage means your midfielder and defender can recover space easier, hence maximising attacking threat by minimising their space to hold possession. Best used along with high pressing.

Can I ask you that why do you use players with so many positions? Does this not make almost all skills white, hence same as the player would have as high grey as white skills?

These are my more favourite formations, which are not all I could actually play (eg. 4-4-2), that can be formed with these 11 players alone. 1 more 3-role sub can possibly change for another 10 formations easily.

If you were my opponent, what would you do to counter my in-game change of formation and tactics? Well, I’d hate to face such a team because any team with single positions would not be able to perform at all when I can counter with ease whenever they make a sub, even if their white skills are higher, because their positions cannot be shifted.

The only exception is probably single-role mutant with most being greys, but understandably they don’t work as well as before.

Having more white skills look unwise as the player may look ‘average’. However, the fact is skills are applied when scenarios arise. I look at it another way, Eg. When a ML dribble against a MR, the chance is he will succeed because MR tackling skill is way worse than the ML dribbling. But, if we add position MC for the ML and boost up his now-white tackling skill, what do you think it may happen? The chance is I may lose in exceptional duels (250 dribbling vs 200 tackling), but overall I would win more in the rest of duels, hence overall control and possession turnover of the game.

I always love playing teams of up to +10% with mainly single-roles, which means they can be defeated by formations alone, and skills would not even matter.
