Tactic choice

I have been wondering and searching on the forum here to see if there is any guide to tactics.

I have been playing manager games for too long, but I still cant understand how the tactics work here, I used to think that when your defensive players are outnumbered by the opponent's attackers your should use Zonal Marking, other wise man mark. I know that when you use a high defensive line (Aka setting red arrows to all defenders? ) offside trap will become more effective. Also weakening your midfield and strengthen your attack and defense is a good way to counter attack.

Any guides or help would be great.
