I'd counter it with the Number 1 formation...

    -----ST--ST--------
    --------AMC--------
    ---------MC--------
    --------DMC--------
    DL--DC--DC--DC--DR
I know I should listen to you but that formation looks like I'm asking for it. The last guy to mirror this guy lost 6-1.

Any ideas how I should counter this?

He's my opponent in the Cup play-offs.
It looks like 4-2-2W-2 hexagon formation if he has red arrow on the dmc. It looks like he/she focuses on left side. 4-5-1V should do it.

Cheers Awglan. 4-5-1v is a tactic I'm most familiar with and know how to operate it to devastating affect. I think I'll go with the balanced option and hope the possession I gain from this match racks up enough goals to sail through this round.

How did the match go? I my self play 4-5-1V for the first time with normal mentality, down both flanks, own half pressure, normal tackling, short passing. No counter and offside trap. Is that a good setup? Can this formation be played with attacking mentality?

I won 1-0. Not a great result but it's a positive result. I had most of the possession but I weren't gonna go gung ho so I'm happy with the result.

Don't use the offside trap with 4 defenders. Yes, that's a good set up and yes it can be played attackive, if your quality is higher but normal works just aswell as it's a balanced tactic. Use blue arrow on your DMC if your opponent has AMC. Red if not, he supports the mids and my DMC gets a few goals this way.

I won 1-0. His players didn't effect me really, only guy who gave me a bit of hassle was his striker. His CM went right sided slightly as my lb was denying him everything.

    I can't even describe this formation-cup-play-off-1-0.jpg

waw impressive possession !! wish you best of luck in the away game
i discovered, playing coutner at home never work, but work like charm when away .. beating much more stronger sides then just to lose at home 0-3 in cup !! this game have no logic at all
