Can you post the stats, value of the players and inform which drill you're using? Training a skill wouldn't affect the training speed.

As I said in another thread, the solution to discourage tanking is simple. If you don't promote you lose all your best players ( let's assume above 120% or 140%), with the chance to buy them back...
