..Until they reach a determined number of stars. That way, the player could gain special abilities and new roles.
I'd put that number at 4 stars to make it worthwhile and fun to keep them on...

If a player is working towards a new role or special ability, allowing the progress to transfer to a new team would increase his value & desireability at auction.
