How to beat 4-3-1-2

I will meet a strong opponent with lvl 7 in cup match where I am only lvl 3. he is using 4-3-1-2

His quality is 42 where I am only 30.

What should I do?

Anyone got any idea?

I would play 4-1-4-1 against this, defensive minded, counter attack, there isn't much else you can do to overcome this sort of opponent so don't expect to get any result from this.

I am curious since I am meeting number 1 in my league who plays JUST that... what did you play ?

Well, Well done on getting the good result, even though you decided to approach the game in your own style, at the end of the day the decision is down to yourself on what tactics you play and all we can do is offer you advice whether you take it or not. To win 4-2 against a team 12 quality higher on average is a very fortunate result, although theres the possiblity of the other manager thats abandoned their team or they played in a illegal formation which would only help your team get the victory.

I didn't mean to offend you, man. I just completely owned him. That guy didn't abandon his team and he didn't use illegal formation as well. May be I was lucky to beat him 4-2 in first leg at my home, but I beat him again 2-1 at his home.

Did he have players out of position? July would be right most times, but you didn't tell us much, and from your result, it sounds like the manager has left the team.
