I believe that we as managers should have the option to give our team the instructions to

A- Win ( Everybody loves to win )
B- Draw ( To control our position as the first - second - or third ) and this is important to chose whether we prefer to go to super league or continue in CL but against different opponent ...
C- Lose ( For those who love to tank )

C is easy just put illegal formations. Draw is the hardest result to achieve since you need to consider the way the opponent plays. And playing for victory is also easy just prepare the team at the best of your ability.

I agree with you. The most important result that we should be able to control is playing for a draw.
