With the leaders attempting to claw back some gd with an early 5-0 win Buffs welcomed Barcelona to a goals Fiesta but with no plans to share. A switch to an aggressive 3-5-2 with marauding wide men and a bursting midfield centre secured a 9-0 home win.

The Buffs buzzed from the start and the visitors could not cope with the pace and movement up front or the midfield thrusts. In 5 minutes McStay pounced on a loose ball and was pulled down. After some horizontal somersaults and wails of agony he got up and stroked home. In 10 minutes again McStay pounced from 20 yards and it was deja vu, and it was deja vu as McStay was brought down and got up to strike home the dead ball for 2-0. A McLeish corner in 20 minutes was met by the head of Souness and the net bulged. McLeish obviously wanted in on the goal scoring action as he powered out of defence through the middle and to the edge of the box.......only to have his legs taken from underneath him. Buffs Mad screamed from the touchline as yet again the ref left his cards in his pocket. McStay waved his magic right wand and it was 4-0. In 39 minutes the Buffs strike pair actuaklly managed to break a sweat as Law rounded the keeper, but was forced wide, and fed Mols for a tap in.

Buffs Mad, athough 5-0 up, was concerned by the hard tackling and told Fletcher to strip for action. Law kept the score ticking over with a solo effort in 49 mins - Mols screamed for the pass but had to settle for the gift of seeing the Lawman peeling away arm in the air after an exquisite chip. McStay came off and Fletcher on. Fletcher passed the word to the midfield to hang back - if the visitors wanted blood then they could feed off Mols and Law. Buffs pressure produced another corner 2 minutes after the change. As McLeish crossed Fletcher dived to head in but nearly had his head taken off by his own teammate as Baxter half-volleyed home. Mols became the focus for the rough treatment from the visitors but ended up the first to be carded as he retaliated - a costly card as he will be suspended next time out. Clearly aggrieved Mols then dismantled the defence single handedly in 72 mins. A visiting defender waited his chance and up-ended Mols in the 76th minute. McLeish took over FK duties and floated a cute chip onto Johnstone's head and Jinky flicked it in off the post.

Buffs Mad said "Earlier in the season we found goals hard to come by but now we hold a 16 goal advantage. If we win our remaining games we win the league.....but its far easier to say than do so we'll try to win tomorrow and see where we are then."
