My two sets are the same colours, blue and white; red and black, just different pattern, so it's not down to colour.

dosent metter pattern only color if you have same colors on both jerseys like blue-red (pattern no5) and blue-red (pattern no2) you won't be able to use them :P

This is correct. It doesn't matter what is the pattern, only the base color counts. If you have two jerseys with the same base color, one they cannot be used at the same time, one for home and one for away, you can use only one of them.
