IMHO, 21
The larger the squad, the more versatile you can be and the greater number of formations you can play. It also helps when you get injuries as you will have a sub for the injured player.
You do pay more in salary and if you max out at 22, you have no place to put the free youth.
I also try my hardest to get players who play two positions since that helps with formations.
Its not the size, its how you USE it.
(Thats what SHE said!) Doh!
Hey, I was given the opportunity to use it, so I did!
i only use a squad of 17. but im a lazy manager. i sign 11 5 star players and the subs are filled with players who used to be 5 stars. my bench every season has 1 gk, 2 defenders, 2 midfielders and 1 striker. they hardly get played because if i have any injuries i just use the red packs, ill only use them if a game isnt important or i consider it an easy game.
CoolioFC - Lvl 13, season 13.
Squad ave: 75.5
League Championships: 5 (1,3,6,7,8)
Champions League:
Cup: 1
I've always kept 22, so that on 2 game days I can rotate my whole squad. The cost of wages had always been less than match day revenue so thats not a problem. I may change that this season now that there is a minimum of three hours between competitive games because I spent $30m on day one and I'm now in debt!
It helps that I rarely change my starting formation, but I do have versatile players who can switch positions during the game. I don't worry about the youth player because I won't pay 20+ tokens for a 4* and the 3* would never get near my team

I normally have 20... I used a bit of trial and error over the last few seasons to find out whats best for my management style and playing extra friendlies every day instead of training.
*Retired From Top Eleven*
I normally have 21/22, but now I'll try to reduce it to 19/20

It used to be 21 so you can get the young 2 star player and sell him straight away, but now you can't watch videos for blue packs, most of my subs morale is good or lower (1st team is normally superb)
Does it make much difference what the players morale is?? Usually it means a 6 rating or worse...does anyone have any experience of how much difference morale makes?? Never had a MOTM that was poor!!
I have 15.
Pros: Higher concentrated average scores (signing 1 5* player could make your average team skill go up drastically).
Cons: Less substitutes, If injured, only 2 subs. Cannot sell bad players without buying new ones.
