play other people in goalie position?

just wondering whether this is possible...for example, would a defender with better defending skills (including handling) be better than a natural goalie with worse stats? thanks!

Could be better, because handling skill is important for GK. Since he is played out of position, his morale will be negatively affected. I would only try doing that when I'm trying not to win the game though.

It's stupid to play a player other than a GK as GK as I've noticed that possession drops quite somewhat.

A good manager would have 2 good goalkeepers in their squad to cover for injuries etc . I guess if both where injured and for one match you needed a keeper and couldn't transfer 1 in time , yes it would work but obviously not as well !!!! (still wondering why on a football manager game) one would think about playing with an outfielder in goal . good luck anyway

Yeah it's a case of emergency only for most managers... my first choice GK is always at least 6* but usually 7* and I always have a 5* reserve.

I did not see any difference between 3* and more than that ... the matches I played most of the times GK is 3 * and always saves at least 1 or 2 free kicks and 1 or 2 corners ...so I am not sure keeping 7* or 6* will help ...
