I have not tried this, but I read where someone prevented friendlies by scheduling friendlies after their competitions for that day. This caused them to reach their limit of games for the day. After the league and cup/champions games were over, he cancelled the friendly games. This would be easy to do if you created a second and third team as the scheduling partners for those friendlies.
