Midfield Low Rating

I have a 5 star midfielder. Best quality midfielder I have, and he is probably the worst performing midfielder in my team. Seems bizarre, but he's constantly on the bench. Keep trying him out, but just doesn't perform. If he does it's for one game, then back to rating of 5 or 6.

But then on the other side, I have a 4 star midfielder (same position) and he's banging goals in, setting up goals and performing 7+ rating every game.

A couple of seasons ago I had every striker injured so I had to use the free youth player who was about 15Q lower (3 Star) than the average player in my squad. Yet he'd get hattricks every game got 9's and 8's when I had an 8 star striker next to him performing 7's and the odd 8.

I guess some players just have a hidden goal scoring talent in this game and its a gamble to find them.
