Midfield Low Rating

This is something I've noticed recently, my midfielders have never really had good ratings.

I went through a phase of selling any midfielder who got a 6 or lower in the hope I would eventually bump into one that performs. Unfortunately I haven't. It isn't causing me problems as most matches I win easily do to high performing Strikers and Wingers. 4-2-2-2 Hexagon. (to people having trouble scoring even with possession, you need to find a goal scoring striker quality doesn't mean everything in my experience)

Has anyone else had problems with getting midfield to perform or is it just generally the norm for down both flanks tactics? You cant really stick a single midfielder as you loose too much possession.

My hopeful resolution:
Training the midfielders to have SA such as Corner specialist/Free Kick in the hope that the assists/goals they gain from the SA will boost their performance.

I have a 5 star midfielder. Best quality midfielder I have, and he is probably the worst performing midfielder in my team. Seems bizarre, but he's constantly on the bench. Keep trying him out, but just doesn't perform. If he does it's for one game, then back to rating of 5 or 6.

But then on the other side, I have a 4 star midfielder (same position) and he's banging goals in, setting up goals and performing 7+ rating every game.

A couple of seasons ago I had every striker injured so I had to use the free youth player who was about 15Q lower (3 Star) than the average player in my squad. Yet he'd get hattricks every game got 9's and 8's when I had an 8 star striker next to him performing 7's and the odd 8.

I guess some players just have a hidden goal scoring talent in this game and its a gamble to find them.

That's why we need to invest 25 tokens on youth player. to me I think it is a fair investment just to find the next leonel messi

For me i think that sometimes the ratings are not fair, i have a MC that gets always 6 sometimes 7, but whend my strikers are missing a lot, he scores a goal from a long range, he now have 9 scored, is my 3rd top score. What can i say.

Every player get a bad note, but the those with the Best market value, have good ratings more often.

I noticed the same: on flank formations, the MC's are more focused on defense than offense, as the passes go down the flanks. Generally, people boost attack more than defense in the midfield. Personally I've had more success with MC ratings when passing was mixed or through the middle. Still, ratings dont always make sense to me. My GK occasionally scores 5 or 6 when I had 0 goals against me. Perhaps its a simple matter of having less to do that makes ratings lower. Less chances to 'shine'.

I have found that following positions on average have lower ratings than the rest of the team: GK, DMC and MC.
