To try to answer you, I don't think it's possible since this is a Facebook app. You can play with your smart phone, though. Not sure if it's possible to create a non FB account there.

It's definitely possible on your mobile phone. I played for ages on my Android without connecting it to my Facebook account. Not sure if it is possible on a PC, I would assume it is.
