Berkshire Utd - Unexpected Wins taste sweeter
In last night's Cup-Final the Berkodites met FD Madrid, another Austrian based team. Madrid had an advantage of Q4 so we did not expect to be successful.
Our opponent must have made his squad quite aggressive as already in the 2nd minute my striker was attacked rudely in the penalty-area and sent off. This was good for us as this was a 6*-Defender. Malte Hansen, the Danish star-player of Berkshire, converted the penalty. Just 5 minutes later Zahi Naim found the perfect time to score his very first goal for his team. We had spent a lot of money for him and although he disappointed until this night we gave him another chance on a slightly different position in the defense.
So everything looked perfect - 2-0 after less than 10 minutes, the other team one player less...
Just 12 minutes later it was 1-2 and another 10 minutes later Madrid scored the equalizer. Berkshire had just some hours ago a League-game which we could not postpone and so our veteran striker Yotov and our young AMC Friesenbichler were obviously tired and had to be replaced. Just five more minutes a third player was substituted and it looked like that we will go in overtime. But in the 85th minute a corner from defender Papaioannou found the head of Hansen again - and his 29th goal this season finally sealed this sweet victory.
It has been the first time this team won the Cup - after we nearly went out in the third round and advanced in a penalty-shootout.
The result was very fitting as we lost the deciding CL-Semifinal 2-3 in the 87th minute. This time luck was with us!!!
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY
