I know this is a old thread but I was looking at the same question.
I am thinking of playing a 4-1-2-1-2 next season and just got a DMC with this skill. I am playing Attack and thought it might be good to back up my defense but have this skill to try to make some plays.
What do you think? I will be on my 3rd season having won my last one (Current).
Used a DMC playmaker there great for 3142-4141 any formation that gives him cover and he has someone in front to pass to,

I'd say DMC playmakers would work very well in formations such as 4-5-1 V, 3-5-2 V, 4-1-4-1 and 3N-1-4-2.
Not sure if its any use having a DML or DMR playmaker though.

The 4-1-2-1-2 has ML and RL with a AMC in front and 2 strikers who have been ace this season (Top goal scorers #1 and #2 in league and #1 passer)
He is not a AMAZING player this DMC but I wanted a playmaker.
