Selling your unwanted players is a big problem in higher leagues. Your 2* players are my 5* ones.

These are my current auction list and I am pretty sure if you were me you wouldn't buy your own players. If you really want to sell your players I suggest you put them up in early part of the season(day 1/2) worked out pretty well for me.
And the injury problem and the losing problem is I believe is global. Last season I didn't got the promotion although I have the best team in the league and I wasn't even trying to tank.
A level without promotion will solve both problem pretty good. If you really want to quit I suggest tank for a season and see what happens.
