Special ability rubbish!

I know we have had long debates on how real special abilities are? I mean they add no value to a player, yet they have had 50 more training points spent on them!? To further this, My entire squad consists of players with SA's yet they are often outperformed by older players that are lower in quality and have no special ability.

Here's how players with special abilities worked for me:

I found that the 'DRIBBLER' SA performs the worst. Especially when players in CM have them.
I found that the 'PLAYMAKER' SA can be strong although poor when wingers have them.
I find that 'SHADOW STRIKER' can be okay but like the 'ONE ON ONE SCORER' SA it can be inconsistent.

The weirdest one for me is that my player that has player roles 'RB RWB RM' HAS the 'AERIAL' defender SA and performs better at RM?

I really do think that SA's are total rubbish and players that play well under a SA is pure coincidence.

What are your views and expieriences? - Do you cother buying players with SA's?

I wouldnt quite go as far as to say that bro!, It could be that the SA are best in certain positions, this is where I think they work best. ariel defender DL,DR, defencive walls DC, playmakers DMC/ MC, dribblers ML,MR, corner specialist DL,DR,ML,MR, shadow striker AMC, one on ones ST.

the purpose of the SA is to have the player perform one * above his current rating. so if he is a 70Q 4*, with a shot ability of 70, then according to the ASK THE DEVS, he would play as a 5* with a shot ability of 75.

Marc, I agree with you that this is practically useless. I can just use a 5* player instead of the 4* with Freekick and get the same chance.

I just tanked last season and built up 700 skill points and did not waste ANY on an SA because of this. 50 skill pts = just more 3Q, which is much close to the next star.

it is just used to create token bidding wars, frankly.

every player in my team has SA apart of my DMC because of rubbish selection (no defensive walls unless you have DC/DMC which I dont have)

usefull ones

corner taker - I have 2-3 players with this special ability and its very important especially in Cup games
Free Kick taker - I have 3 as well in case I am playing 2 games a day which I usually do.

Defensive wall - is the best one for blocking the shots, I have 5 defenders and they all have it - very important as I do concede 10 goals per season in League in average, no more

Shadow Striker - yes but only for AML, AMR based players ... sometimes when I have ST, AMC I give it to him

The rest are pure rubbish, the top one is Penalty taker and he cant take penalty properly, plus both GK abilities are rubbish plus the worse one is definitely Playmakaer which attracts lots of cards and its useless.

It costs 50 points I know (it can be trained within 10 hours if you have Nordeus gen player)

The best thing is when you put this kind of player into tranfer market (first 2-3 days) bidding war goes for around 25 rounds easily, I love it Sometimes to watch this bidding wars is much better than to watch some Yankee movie , trust me

Haven't really noticed anything because I either buy them with special abilities or when I finish teaching a player a special ability he's too old and I sell him.

all you have to do is tank one season to get enough points to give a position or SA, and it wastes only a year. get an 18 yo, tank a year and you have an 18yo with an SA. easy.

They are useful but certainly not worth 40, 50 skill points...

If I buy one with SA fine if not fine as well. I dont go for SA when looking for new players.
