I have the exactly same problem as you. I realize that the star player keep getting 5 for the pass 6-7 games and maybe I know the reason for it. He was my captain, first choice free kick and corner kick tacker before I bought 2 players who are better quality players and also free kick specialist and corner kick specialist and he become 3rd choice captain and also 2nd choice free kick and corner kick taker. Maybe in real world the player would be unhappy too because he is no more the captain and set pieces first choice taker.
