There is no rush to win everything there is. Noone is forcing you to do so.
You may refuse to show your greatness by buying tokens. You may set other goals in game like win the championship while in for a free ride.

You may also lose nine out of ten times when you play with that heavy tokens invested team, but just that one time you have managed to beat them it worths much more than any cup given. Imagine their sorrow when they return to forum just to complain about that insignificant team that managed to pawn them with such audacity.

No there were no tricks when I won my two Cups. I was moving on every season with what I got. That was the old cup format which you met teams from your league level and not quality. One cup I won by playing 3 last rounds with equal quality teams. Second one I remember I won as underdog against a 50% scout team while I was like 4,5 stars average quality and I will never forget that final. I had set my team up with ultra defensive mentality, long balls, counter attacks and hard tackling, playing 4-1-4-1 lol. Won that Cup by 2-1 and I can still feel this guy's anger

One cup I won by playing 3 last rounds with equal quality teams. Second one I remember I won as underdog against a 50% scout team while I was like 4,5 stars average quality and I will never forget that final. I am just another player with my glorious and my shameful top eleven manager moments. I have laughed, cheered, raged, cursed, got disappointed, quit, returned, accepted my mistakes and now I just enjoy the game by not taking it so seriously.

The old cup format? Why don't just apply the same drawing system as league or champions competition when "Level" is the base point to determine the participants? It's more fair I think than this Cup "can be tricked" drawing system.
I can't imagine the match you had played like that, you must had watched the game and I guess during the process you do pray a lot,,,hahahaha (just kidding).

Everything is calculated with quality these days in every tournament if this is viable......thanks to old times crybabies that were complaining they were facing too many overpowered opponents in their cup format (yet everyone was at same level).

a lot of praying? i was sky high launched from my chair when I scored my winning goal. Good times lol.
