Its simple. Your opponent didn't have enough players on the pitch, so the game selected some of his reserves to make up the number.

If the manager is leaving the team and neglect .. must be excluded because the number of players is less than desired.

That happens after 60 days (or whatever it is). Some people who get ill or on holiday or locked up or fall down a well.... might be glad that old Otto is taking care of things until they return.
