Problem is, you will never know who is on the other end of the bidding war.

I am running my team at the moment with 3 six star players, 11 five stars, and the rest being four stars. I am planning to slowly run my team down in quality, while keeping it good enough to get promoted, before going all out buying high 5 star players again.

Anyone looking at my team as I start to rebuild would think I would either have only a few tokens, or a small stockpile. As things currently stand I have a few thousand in my account. I could in theory be a very expensive bidding opponent to someone who wouldn't see me as a threat.

I've been in wars with some who have teams full of five and six star players, who after the bidding has got to around round ten they have just left - assumingly because they feel that they can just get another player without the hassle. If you are up against a token buyer they might just decide its not worth bidding over and over again for a five star player when they can just pick a scout up instead.
