For these that don't like Academy players

Look what you're missing out on, he was an 18 token player!

He's not got as many games due to resting him in a 'tanking' season, but this was done through training and 'green packs', no token buying.

I've bought four '24 token' youths and they've all been quite underwhelming, never again.
18, 15 and even 12 token ones however, can go on to great things as I've found out many a time!

The thing you have to evaluate is after you have spent your tokens on the player, then used green packs to power train him (and red packs for injuries), while possibly using more tokens to buy packs, add on the time it takes to train him (as you say you tanked a season too - so you could discount one of those stars if you hadn't) - then compare it to what you could get from a scout the question is - is it really that great?

I've never used an academy player. Maybe this is due in part to the fact that I already have several far superior players in the team to not make it worth while.

Academy players can be ducks. But! They can be an alternative if you are in a server where any youth causes a bidding war. And they are an alternative to Mr. Scout if you want to have a player in your team 4 seasons more than a Scout could possibly be (22 is youngest remember, so 18 can look like a good deal) Even on a team that has measly Token situation with no PT, I still consider them. They are more often than not good players, and their market value is usually higher than players available on the TL. So I figure if I am underwhelmed I can sell him for and get as much $ as the same amount of T to a bank loan. I have bought dozens of Academy players (on various teams) and well over two thirds have been good players.

    It's just an option.
Expressed above is my own opinion. Your results may vary.

I don't buy packs either, this game is not worth spending any money on, but it can be fun to spend some time on sometimes.

Like I say, it's easy enough to buy scouts every season and spend cash, this is just an alternative way of playing that doesn't involve that, but you can still end up with outstanding players who will be in your team for 7 or 8 seasons.

I think this is one of the reasons why this game is good - each player has a different way of playing the game. I'd never dream of trying to develop academy players and release the one that costs tokens, while selling the other. However, it works for you and you have a great player out of it.

For me, its easier for me to just go onto the market and pick up a 5 star player rather than spend time/packs developing them. I agree with you that spending real money on this game isn't needed - even more so if you can farm lots of tokens for free. For those that don't have that option, its interesting reading how they go about improving their team.

No rights or wrongs, I just suppose we have different methods in improving our teams

I've taken 2 so far and none have remained in the team but they sold well giving waaaaaaay more than a bank loan at my level.

I really don't get this post... If he was that good why never again
And a question for those who have bought more than 1 players from the academy. Were they duds with 5-6-4 ratings or were they really good players?

I will try to beat you with 4-1-2-1-2 Narrow Diamond Formation
