Can we see his stats? I'd like to see just how close to 6* he is, and also, is he expensive compared to similar players? That will tell you whether he is a fast trainer. I'm afraid my signing beats yours, though, this beauty for 2T, got him 2 skill points and he's 6* already, second most valuable player in my squad as well.
