What you also need to remember is that the value between attack and defence on each player can't exceed 20 points.

While that players defence is 57, his attack is only 37.2- so that means if you allocate him another defensive point you will hit the 20 point variable - meaning that you wont be allowed to allocate him another defensive point until you have allocated him an attacking one (and soon Physical will come into play too).

I personally think you have made a mistake on this player. You would have been better off keeping your tokens until Sunday in my opinion and getting a more rounded player.

Not a problem have 2 other Ds doing that, his attack and physical will grow double to his defense I know, not a problem for me, just a problem for the opponents ST when he stops him in his track! LOL
