If a defensive midfielder is injured.....

.....which player will auto substitute him if he playing in a defensive midfield slot ? From the pool of defenders or pool of midfielders ? Since there's no auto field called "defensive midfielders". Or the game will just intelligently auto source out a substitute defensive midfielder from any pool if there is one ?

I think it will be replaced with a MC. Today my team had two games and I didn't have the chance to be online. In the first game one of my 3 MCs got injured and was replaced (also for the second game automatically) with the only MC from the bench. In the second game my DMC got injured and there has been no replacement for this player although I had two DCs available.

There's no sub for DMC and AMC, that's why we strongly sugest you to play a formation that has all positions covered

4-4-2 used to be the safest formation, not anymore.. cause you get a red card on your MC you would automaticlly have 20% possession.

4-3N-2W-1 is risky but as long as you don't get red cards on you'r ST you would be fine. All positions are covered there.

You could also use 4-5-1, same problem as previous formation cause you've only get 1ST.

4-3-3 could work aswell, as long as your DL/DR doesnt get red cards..

    Forget about it!

Well Becks answer comes from experience and is an excellent answer.

I have a different answer, put this guy as mid sub and FORGET ABOUT IT!

You can't set auto sub for DMC tho, if your DMC get's injured he won't get substitution.. even if you've got a player like that

About you'r player, You could have only 3 sub players and cover all possible possitions(with 1% possesion penalty in some of cases.)
Formations with 3 defenders (DC DC DC)
AMC-MC-DMC(also covers DC and ST with 1% possesion penalty)
    AML-ML-DML(also covers x AMR-MR-DMR WITH 1% possesion penalty)
    GK

An easier sub tactics right here
If you've got a team playing 4-3N-2W-1 you could simply buy:
DC/DMC(also covers DR DL & MC)
    ST(also covers AML AMR)
    GK

I myself use Phillip's solution on BvB. Even an MC/DMC or AMC/MC can be useful, too for subbing.

A DMC is a YELLOW player as FC bal op t dak rightly pointed out. If a DMC is hurt he will be autosubbed from the Midfield subs.

Expressed above is my own opinion. Your results may vary.

both ... u will lose some possession as penalty for playing him out of position , he will make some mistakes and fouls
what matters is his def and attacking and phy skills ..
if u want to give him up arrow go with mid, if u want him to defend more, by having down arrow, choose CB
