Allocating skill points

I know you can choose which of the three categories to allocate a skill point (attack, defense or physical/mental) but can you allocate it to a specific skill within the category e.g. to tackling or shooting etc. or is it always randomly chosen by the computer?

Also, is there any point at all in allocating goalkeeper skill points to attack?

Goalkeeper only defense and phys/mental. No need to train him for attack except if you want him to use the free kicks or penalties

And you can't choose the skill points to allocate a specific skill. It's randomly choosen.

Well make sure you assign some to attack because one stat cannot be 20 points higher than another stat.
