Are the ratings of any use ??

Yesterday i played my cup match.... and to my disbilief i lost 6-1 :/ ( Unlocked the Bad Day Achievement ,though ) :P
But when i checked ratings.. my players had all 7-8 ratings but his team had 2 5 ratings... ??
So how is it possible that i lost 6-1 !! , or the ratings are just a timepass part in the game ??
And top of all , my GK had 7 rating while his had 5 rating , still i managed to score only 1 and he 6

As I can see so far, there is a misunderstanding in rates. Rates have two meanings.
One, is to rate the try of the players not the effort.
As you can see in my example also, oppo defense isn't better than mine but they had a good try against my team.
Two - it's for my personal use, to see if some player is out of form for a period.
Also I believe that rates are personal for every team and every player of the team. *

* sorry my friend, I was going out so I 'll continue my post with a little more analysis.
5 for my FK, for this match isn't bad. The oppo was weak and the center & defense did a good job. If my GK has continuously 5s, then I 'll start to worry. With 6-7 for my GK, for that team, I 'm pleased.
7 it's ok for my defenders. If any of my defenders has continuously 7s and maybe some 6 I 'll start to worry.
7 for my DMC it's superb. In generals if a DMC has 6-7 it's super.
7 for my MCs it's also very good. My MCs usually have 6-7, sometimes 5 or 8.
8 for AM & ST it's good. If someone has continuously 7 it's not good.
The logic in rates of the game it's different than real football but there is still some pattern. I started wondering about what is the form logic when I was lv3 but now I have the picture .
