So I am level 2 and I have this guy, fast trainer 18 yo DL DC 29Q
Do you suggest I level him to 30+ or first get a SA like arial def or def wall before going to 30?
I have read that with an additional star speed of training will drop off significantly.

yes it will be reduced so get skill 1st then go next star

To have a strong team all the seasons you need sell it soon, and Q29 player is much more easily to sell than a Q30.

I could easily level this guy this season to 34Q and a SA ability. Why sell? Where would I find someone as good as him?

Always use skill points at first for positions or specialities before moving up quality

in low levels it's easy to sell players.
I always selling my players last 2-3 days of the season no matter q - many times q_1 or q_6.
But they are young, under 25-26 and with good stats - not 4-5 rates.
