Is there a reward for watching your friends match & 'supporting' him? I know that it gives him an extra 2% possession, but do I gain anything, like a fitness/health pack or training skill or whatever?

well, you can get a gift is they thank you and you haven't received a gift from them that day, but you are still limited to get only one of each kind. also there is an achievment that tracks how many times you support.

i don't think so but some say that the only benefit of supporting other managers is your team will be consider as consistent and will perform far better than before....some manger's theory am not sure about that

I support my friends in their matches because I hope them supporting my team in future.

When supporting others, you may notice some managers who are very active in supporting others. Try to add them as friends. That's my method to ensure consistent procession advantage.
