Does ball possession even matter?

Possession is like troop numbers in battle its good to have but not a guaranteed win.

that's a nice metaphor.
Mine is :
if there was a bookmaker in t11 and gathered all the data -
-quality of the players
-proper formation
-condition and morale
-win bonus
-bonus from tickets (home or away game)
-bonus from supporters
-presence of the managers
... then he would give some % of the team that can possible win the game.
That's for me is the ball possession .

All season I'll have usually between 60-65% possession, yet my opponent will have equal number of shots, and shots on target. After this joke of a result I just HAD to post something.

Earlier today I had over 60% possession but was out shot and beaten by a team of lower quality with no special abilities, when most of my players have one.

Seriously does ANYTHING matter in this game anymore or is it all random?

23 shots and only 2 on target? I don't even play soccer and I could do better than that blindfolded.
0 corners? Really? He of course scores on a double corner, I've given up 7 of them this season. I've missed my last 4.

Do this a few times put your ST in goals for like 10 games see how many you win?

It is more like 50% management, 30% adaption and 20% luck.
Playing at different possession levels require different tactics to gain higher chance creation.

If you think it is mostly about luck you have vastly underestimated the complexity this game possess.

Just lost cup to another lower quality team when I held 60% possession, again i'm out shot and my guys can't hit the target to save their life. So much for my scout level MCs and STs.

Seriously this game makes no sense anymore.
Until this season this has never happened, Yes I know you can lose sometimes, but how can I consistently hold 60% or more and not score and keep losing to lower quality teams?

Higher level people are just stronger and at some point you'll find that they manage the team better, it is not only about player quality.
Keeping your players in good shape, punishing bad performing players to boost your team morale is more important than raw quality.

If you consistantly getting bad form, you are not doing a good job motivating your players.

Underperformers need to be benched or fired no matter how expansive that player is.

Furthering my argument that nothing in this game matters anymore...

A team 14 levels higher than me just gave me a friendly while I wasn't online, so I didn't even watch it.

I lose 2-0.

However... I outshot him.

Yes that's right, despite under 40% possession and his players being 70 points better than mine on average, I got more shots AND shots on target.
