Does ball possession even matter?

All season I'll have usually between 60-65% possession, yet my opponent will have equal number of shots, and shots on target. After this joke of a result I just HAD to post something.

Earlier today I had over 60% possession but was out shot and beaten by a team of lower quality with no special abilities, when most of my players have one.

Seriously does ANYTHING matter in this game anymore or is it all random?

23 shots and only 2 on target? I don't even play soccer and I could do better than that blindfolded.
0 corners? Really? He of course scores on a double corner, I've given up 7 of them this season. I've missed my last 4.

Well lol I had 63% possession and they had 38% and I attempted 20 goals, 7 on target, they had 16 shots, 9 on target and scored 2 - 0 against me.

They had 2/3 stars and a 5 star goalie, I had 3 5 star plays and 5 star goalie, and 4/3 and a 2 so I would say it is automatic.

You had more shots but your players were underperforming.
As unintrutive as it seems, morale appears to only affects possession, player performance isn't affected by morale and is dictated by hidden factors.

Try to train more (by green packs) or rotate your starting lineup.
Replace bad players if they still consistently fail.

I hate the hidden underperforming abilities. My top defender is all of a sudden dropping and scoring 5's again. Last season I had 8 players drop in their performance. I seriously mean 3 MC, AML, AMR and 3 strikers all from 7-8 players to 4-5 players. I had games with 25 shots and 12 on target and lost against the team with 8 shots and 3 on target with 2:0. The game is really random at sometimes.

I'd think ball possession doesn't matter that much,once someone plays defensive counter he'd goes with 35 o so,so it doesn't matter if someone has more the ball,u can have more shots n everything with less possession,why should more possession mean better stats,player can keep passing but don't come near a goal.., so for me it's just a statistic,meaningless for any final result

It matters when its supposed to matter ;) Possession is like troop numbers in battle its good to have but not a guaranteed win.

@OP Usually when I see my opponent getting higher corner count than me I turn down my Team mentality a notch. While a high corner count is not a guarantee that oppo is c-a it does raise my suspicions ;)

I can't find screenshot, but I remember that only defeat when I played 1st season of OMA league. My team had 72% BP, more shoots but I lost that match 0-1. I'd rather have 28% BP and 3 points in pocket than 72% BP

I am starting to wonder if anything even matters. Last season I lost a lot of games since all my players dropped in quality (8 players from 7-8 scores to 4-5 scores). I lost the forelast game against the number 13 of the league. I had over 70% ball possession and 40% more shots (max stamina, morale, bonus, watched the game, etc...). Still lost the game 2:0. So the next game I thought, I am going to put in all my replacements. Quality dropped like about 10 points or so. Some had red morale. Stamina was not max. No bonus. With this team I went up against the number 2 of the league (played the same formation as number 13 4-4-2). I lost that game only 1:0. Should have lost that one 5:0 or 6:0 based on everything. So that makes me question this game.

Today I lost league match 3-2, opponent scored winning goal in 89'. Match was quite though, equall quallity opponents. After match statistics showed that my ST whose form was 8 got 4 rating in that match. How can some player in very good form suddenly get very bad rating?

Hear this one lv6 team played with against abandoned team all 30-34 old 2-3* I had 1 4* rest 5-6* and I drew looool

that's a nice metaphor.
Mine is :
if there was a bookmaker in t11 and gathered all the data -
-quality of the players
-proper formation
-condition and morale
-win bonus
-bonus from tickets (home or away game)
-bonus from supporters
-presence of the managers
... then he would give some % of the team that can possible win the game.
That's for me is the ball possession .

Do this a few times put your ST in goals for like 10 games see how many you win?

20%star, 5%ballposs, 3%participant, 72%luck(random) i think

It is more like 50% management, 30% adaption and 20% luck.
Playing at different possession levels require different tactics to gain higher chance creation.

If you think it is mostly about luck you have vastly underestimated the complexity this game possess.

Just lost cup to another lower quality team when I held 60% possession, again i'm out shot and my guys can't hit the target to save their life. So much for my scout level MCs and STs.

Seriously this game makes no sense anymore.
Until this season this has never happened, Yes I know you can lose sometimes, but how can I consistently hold 60% or more and not score and keep losing to lower quality teams?

This game is a broken s**t.Dosent matter if you looking your match and your opponent isnt.

P.S.:Dont waste your money for this.

Higher level people are just stronger and at some point you'll find that they manage the team better, it is not only about player quality.
Keeping your players in good shape, punishing bad performing players to boost your team morale is more important than raw quality.

If you consistantly getting bad form, you are not doing a good job motivating your players.

Underperformers need to be benched or fired no matter how expansive that player is.

Furthering my argument that nothing in this game matters anymore...

A team 14 levels higher than me just gave me a friendly while I wasn't online, so I didn't even watch it.

I lose 2-0.

However... I outshot him.

Yes that's right, despite under 40% possession and his players being 70 points better than mine on average, I got more shots AND shots on target.

2-0 for 14 lv difference? Whhaaaattt....the f**k

You do realize that this is a numbers game and not real life, right?

You cant motivate these players. You plug in a blue pack or play them in a game and their morale almost always goes down after.
Just for one moment, pretend this game is not real. This game was created to make money, hence the token aspect. If you could motivate players and not lose morale or condition then you take away one aspect of their(Nordeus) income. They dont want to do that. Everything in this game ties into being coerced into buying tokens.

How about: the House always wins. Over time, this game will constantly bombard you with reasons to buy tokens. Your condition and morale will always go down and injuries happen so often it is just idiotic.

But I am glad to have you around, because I learn so much from you. In my 2.5 years playing, you have given me almost as much, if not more, info on the insides of the game than any dev. Seriously though, I cant take anything you say seriously the more I read your posts.

Try not to come across as someone who knows more about this game than anyone else because that is simply not true.

You totally missed the point.

A player on his slump will lose morale.

A player who is in good shape will not lose morale. A player who is on fire will gain morale instead.
Blue packs does not help player performance, only possession.

There are ways to identify slump players if you pay attention to their morale bar. A player on slump lose morale very fast even if you don't field him. For recovery, the cheap way is to boost his morale bar to max, and bench him until his morale bar stop falling (which can take days or even weeks).

Another obvious one is that a player on slump lose less condition per training.

I repeat, the only way to quickly fix a bad form player is by powertraining using GREEN packs, NOT BLUE.

There is no such thing as a bad form player, or good form player for that matter, there is nothing in this game that's constant or makes sense, in comparison with the real world. One has to stop making the comparison to the real world and real football. It's just a cheap FB game, with a money making algorithm.
In what world do you have to change out, practically your whole team every couple of seasons....? Where a player lasts only a few seasons, where teams can win with no KEEPER. I have mentioned many instances of idiotic game play in other posts, so ahm not going to do it again....we all know the absurdity of the game play.
I continue to play this game because, it is kinda fun, and some bragging rights with my friends, which is also fun....lol But that's IT....A wee bit of FUN....I spend NO money, never have....and never will, I get beat by weaker teams, get trolled, stupid crap happens, which it does all the time....Then, OH WELL....This game will NEVER be a decent manager game, because it's SOLE intention is to MAKE MONEY....If no-one ever spent any money, I'd like to see their reaction....It's not like you actually get anything from winning all the time, meaningless stats is all....So one spends money to win everything and get NOTHING in return....pointless....!!

After noticing loads of factors in this game and reading carefully all posts in forum I can say I noticed few important things.

First of all I started observating the form of the players in each game.
I have some DML that is performing from 6 to 5 in each game and unfortunatly he is my best player on this position. I had to put a 26 year old with 3 quality less that is performing from 7 to 8 on each game. After benching my original player more than 3 days I can see him again performing a 7 on each game.

There is also another important factor for the performance that is the mentality of the team. I saw form dropping or raising on the change of mentality from a game to another. So my conclusion is that every player is different and it depends on how this player is formed to play.

I try to play the same system in every game and just watch my player's activity during the game. Unfortunatly I must say that if a player is performing bad for a serie of games the only solution is to replace him, even if it's your top player.

So the point is , like in real football, to have only the best 11 starting. That doesn't mean the best in quality but in form. I saw that the performance of the team is way better that way. And try not to change those players position.

My latest experiment was with a player playing as DML and DMC. I compared him to another DC/DMC and saw that the DC/DMC was much heavier and when I switched them having my original DMC play at the other position he was assigned to play (as lighter player) as DML his form went from a regular 7 to 8-9 in each game. So I guess only by experimenting and observating mainly the form of your players in each position you can really have them performing to the MAX.

Hey my friends, don't overestimate the depth of this game so much. Random factor, results and numbers isn't so rare.

Hey, why this GK had such good rates when I sold mine few seasons ago because he had continuously 5s (but my team didn't accepted goals) ?
Is he in a great form ? Is he has high morale ? Is he highly motivated ?
